And what is a stress test, what do they do and look for?

to determine if your baby can handle the stress of labor, they give you a little pitocin (oxytocin) and measure your contractions and how well the baby responds to the contractions.

I personally had Non Stress Tests to make sure my baby was handling my pregnancy induced hypertension. What they do is strap a monitor around your belly and monitor the babies heart rate for a half hour. There are different reasons one might need a Non stress test, diabetes, Pregnancy induced hypertension, low fluids, being overdue. Its all just to make sure that your baby is handling the pregnancy well.

I had them done with my 1st boy he is now almost 10 yrs old.
They said that his kidneys were not growing right and I had to have a amio done an d non stress tests done for the hole pregnancy. He ended up OK, but he is Autistic.
You sit in a nice comfy recliner chair and they put the baby monitor on your belly to monitor the baby’s heart rate and movements, They want so many movements in each hour, If not they buzz the baby to wake the baby up it feels funny to. But they also can see if you are having contractions.
