What does it mean if you did badly on a nuclear stress test?
The doctor’s office called my husband today. They told him he did badly on his nuclear stress test and that he should see a cardiologist right away. They didn’t explain why, and they just left him hanging. I think it was cruel of them to not to give us more information.
Does this mean he has blockage or a weak heart? Thank you kindly in advance.

it could mean he has a partially blocked artery. he will need to explore his options with his doctor

Many times doctors are not allowed to legally tell you exactly what they see, they instead have to refer you to a specialist, so the doctor might not have been trying to be rude, but has to keep himself quiet due to laws.
As far as not having good test results it could be as mild as early signs of heart disease or as bad as major blockage and needs surgery. I mean it is hard to tell as failed tests can mean anything. I would just suggest that you contact the specialist and make an appointment right away, so that way you can have a solidified answer and you can sleep easier after knowing.

i work in a cardiac icu, usually if a person does badly on a stress test they go to the cardiac cath lab next unless the nuclear stress test was terminated early (maybe he couldnt walk the treadmill, or had a severe reaction to the adenosine/ or dobutamine depending on which test he took) so either he needs to repeat the test or have a cath to check for blockages, good luck.
