Thanks for your video… I have been considering medication, but besides that, it’s really helpful to see others working through such things… I have always suffered from anxiety disorders which have held me back for too long. It gives me hope that I too can get through it.

Plus, I’ve always wanted to go to an Anime convention. ^_^

Since I made that video, I’ve been doing better little by little but I could still feel my mind bogging me down. I’ll think about taking medications a bit more but like you said, I’m going to have to talk to my doctor or see a psychiatrist.

Thanks a lot for responding to my first social anxiety video. I really appreciate it. I’m sorry that I didn’t watch it earlier, I just got a notification today in my email telling me that someone responded to one of my videos. But I totally understand what you are saying. I know for a fact that medications help after doing some research but it’s just that I really want to beat this on my own without having to rely on something that is only temporary.

    Well, no I’m still …
Well, no I’m still on them, a lower dosage, so I’m working at that. The transition is over a long period of time, so like, you don’t really notice that, and as for setbacks I haven’t had any. As far as being off, well, when I crash at a friends house for a few days and go without my meds for like 2-3 days, plus a hangover my stomachs a little more sensitive and I get more anxious, however I can’t really say for sure how much of that is due to the meds.

Rofl!’Quite a stupor’, eh? Yeah, that’s never fun.

Okay, when you put it that way - taking medications is a “just for the time being” sort of thing, it seems much less … scary. Are you completely off medication now? If so, how is the transition from medicated to unmedicated? Does it lead to further setbacks? Seem harder once you’re off medication?

  15. StupedKid Says:

    Yes the Anime …
Yes the Anime Convention was a blast, but later on I did some research about recreational medication taking. And apparently the amount I took put me in quite the stupor, won’t be doing that again. But yeah, the fear of “not being myself” was hard to overcome. What got me past it was knowing eventually I’d beat this problem, and be able to be drug free. This was just a ‘for the time being’ kinda thing.

ANICON!! Yay!! That’s awesome for you.

I’m really reticent about taking medications, too. It’s not that I’m totally against mind-altering substances - I’m a pretty heavy drinker, to be honest. Haha. But the thought of taking something that alters my perceptions/feelings DAILY and constantly as opposed to temporarily … I just don’t know.

  18. StupedKid Says:

    Damn, that’s quite …
, that’s quite the load of meds to go through. Glad you finally hit one that works for you, and hopefully it’ll keep working for you.

    Hey there Stuper,

    Hey there Stuper,
I can tatally relate to you and others that have have posted here. I’ve had Social Anxiety disorder since 1996 and I’ve taken almost every anti-depressant known to man. All the SSRIs and the SNISs and some doctors put me on the a-typical Anti-psychotic meds like Zypreza,Seroquel and the list goes on. Then a Doctor actually gave me a prescription for Klonopin and it really helped, it wasn’t lie a magic bullet but it helped. But,you do have to be really carefull with Klonopin.

As soon as my psychiatrist told me it was addictive I almost didn’t wanna take it, but I have it regimented into my day, and will use it on occasions where I’m panicked and feel I’m losing control, but I do have friends who use it recreationally. They always try to buy it from me, but I *actually* need it, but thank you for your concern, I’m very careful with my meds, and I hope your meds can help you to :)
