My friend, take it …
My friend, take it from me, it all comes down to fear and social conditioning.
The social conditioning is tough to break because you’re born and raised through it. Media, education, peers, society, politics conditions your brain with messages for years. Eventually you get used to it, so you absorb it and internalize the messages so they’re part of you and your personal values. Money, status, cars, sex, everyone tells us these are the keys to happiness. Oh really?

Your video made me …
Your video made me cry…
I can see so much of myself in your words… but it gives me hope that I can get through this… I’m only17, but I have always been shy, quiet, and even socially “awkward” around those I don’t know. So much of my life is a giant struggle to get through everything. But, thank you for sharing your video. You seem like a wonderful person, and I wish you the best… I know how you feel… so thank you.. ^__^

hey!
i have social anxiety too and i totally agree with you about drugs. i also don`t wanna take them, i think they only “cover the symptoms” (not the right expression, but can`t find better one, hope you know what i mean) while not curing the disease and the whole social phobia is still going on. i don`t want to be dependant on anything, i don`t wanna get up in the morning and swallow drugs so i can get through the day. my anxiety got like WAY better when i was on raw vegan food, i almost –>

It may sound harsh …
It may sound harsh to say but i think i suffered from SAD starting from middle school, then got worst through high school and college. i still have now but what helps me sometimes is when i tell myself everybody and i’m better then everyone. helps for me a little but it comes back in job interviews and job presentations! but i will never take MEDS!

I know exacly how …
I know exacly how you feel. SAD is very hard to live with. I also panic in malls where theres alot of people and i have a hard time even hagning out with my friends because they want to go out to a club or something and I also make up excuses not to go. But this can be fixed. I would recommend to see a psycologist who deals with social anxiety disorder. Ive tried many many pills and for me, it was not the solution..made me feel worse but everyone reacts differently to medication..

I think i am …
I think i am suffering from the same disorder. I have problems making friends and I always have a lot of worries when going to public places. Sometimes I twitch so bad when I try to smile at people. Doing presentations in class was the worst! I shake real bad and my mind would go totally blank the moment I had to present . I hate being called in class and I realise that this thing has caused some speech problems for me. Like my sentences are really choppy and I stutter a lot.

Had the same …
Had the same problem. I beat it by rejecting negative and critical thoughts about myself, doing volenteer work, focusing on making other people comfortable in social situations (instead of myself), and reaching out to God by praying and reading the bible. It worked and without drugs! You can do it too!

I was always shy …
I was always shy and for the last 10 years or so I have developed a bad anxiety problem. I LOATH GOING INTO BUSY FOODCOURTS. I have recently lost my job and I am very fearful of going to a job interview because I am afraid that I will break out in another one of my patented sweatstorms. The treatment for people like us is exposure therapy, where you gradually face the things that freak you out slowly until they aren’t so stressful. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.

This sounds exactly like me. Walking in the halls, my face turns bright red. I always go with my friends to buy lunch. I can’t stand going up there. I won’t eat lunch if they’re not there. It is so bad.
