Panic/anxiety attacks, how to prevent them and deal with them?
I get panic/anxiety attacks often about my relationship with my boyfriend. He means the world to me and I’m sick of them coming between us and causing a "road bump". When I get them my mind races and i can’t concentrate on anything! please help
Ask your doctor for some propranolol - this drug is non addictive and safe with few side effects at low dosage. It’s known as a beta blocker and acts by blocking the effects of adrenaline on the heart. I take this medication and it works very well indeed.
Other things you can take include:
L-theanine - an amino acid
Passiflora - herbal remedy
a combined magnesium/calcium supplement - both act as a natural sedative without causing drowsiness
Vitamin B complex - essential for good nervous system functioning.
Bach Rescue Remedy - some people swear by this.
Now, try avoiding ALL caffeine - even in tea - this made a huge difference to my panic attacks. I now drink decaf tea and coffee.
If you attacks are severe, then you’ll have to visit your doctor to ask for the beta blocker. If you think you can cope with them by yourself, then try the herbals/amino acid.
If you are in the midst of a panic attack and feel very ill, try a re-breathe bag. It’s just a paper bag that you place over your nose and mouth and start to gently breathe in and out. The carbon dioxide levels in your blood will increase and help to calm you. Just do it for a couple of minutes then stop and see how you feel. Don’t hold the bag over your airways for much longer than that or you might cause too much C02 in your body.
Another thing you can do is to stimulate your vagus nerve. Close your eyes and gently place a finger onto your closed eyelids. Press hard enough to cause discomfort, but not so hard as to cause pain. You will need to do this off and on for about 8-10 minutes, but it does work. It will slow your heart rate and calm you down.

If you’re in the mood for it - you could try acupuncture. I had my first session this morning to stop smoking, but the Chinese lady told me that she’d help my anxiety as well. I have felt great this afternoon and I made it round the shops just now without feeling jittery at all. So, this could be an option for you as well. It doesn’t hurt at all when the needles are being inserted and the session lasts for about 40 minutes.
hope you feel better soon.

I suggest u take either Yoga or Tai Chi classes. Both can help u deal with ur anxiety and help u stay healthy.
Yoga consists of stretching, meditation, and breathing exercises.
Tai Chi is a martial art that has many health benefits and teaches patience through slow movements. If u can find an instructor that teaches both the health and martial aspects then learning self defense can also boost ur self esteem.
Good luck

Boyfriend is not God. When you put him in his place of a modest human, and start worshiping real God, the panic will leave its place to peace and joy.
