What is it like to be hypnotized ?
A teacher of mine offered to help me with test taking anxiety with hypnotherapy. He did something called a "suggestion test" and it felt really weird but I could still think freely, I think. My heart rate went up and I felt groggy and could hardly stand up afterwards. Is this normal? If not, what is it supposed to feel like? Is it possible to be sexually abused while hypnotized and not remember it?
I’m certified in hypnotherapy…so in the course of becoming certified, I was "hypnotized" many times by the teacher (a PhD in psychology) and other class members. What you describe is pretty accurate. You still feel awake and conscious, but much more open to suggestion than you might normally be when your ego is engaged. The thing to remember about hypnosis is…NO ONE will override or ignore their core set of values, even when hypnotized. That is, you won’t do something under hypnosis if it goes against your morals…those who say you can are misinformed. The subconscious mind only recognizes what is beneficial to us…it’s the ego that leads us astray.
The reason you felt groggy upon awakening is because you were in a very deep state of relaxation…that’s normal, and usually passes very quickly.
You can’t be sexually abused under hypnosis…it is merely a very deep state of relaxation and susceptibility to suggestion. If it DID happen…you’d definitely remember it.

I been hypnotized before. While I was hypnotized, it was more like I was dreaming - except the world was tangable. It has been said that you will not do what you don’t want to do. I don’t know if it can also go as far as totally erasing your thoughts. However, I have heard people fear that hypnotists could insert memories through imagination.

Most of the time…its a state of mind
You normally can not be TRICKED!!! This is why they CAN and DO use it as submissive evidence in court , when they wont even use video tapes or lie detectors. AMAZING, cause i think people FAKE, myself! Not always…but on some of these shows, HA! You know good durn well they are NOT really hypnotized, i mean they cant even keep from smiling them selves..ya know?? :)_
