Am I having anxiety attacks and what causes it?
Past couple days id be fine and then all of a sudden my heart would start racing, i would feel like i have a shortness of breath, thoughts of having heart attacks or dieing come to my head, SOMETIMES heart beats one time funny like where its real noticeable, and sometimes get mild chest pains.
i been prescribed to prozac for like 2 years now and i just quit taking it like 2 months ago w/o askin doctor.. i told my doctor this and he said that that wat is causing these attacks.. anxiety attacks.. i started taking my medicine again but the doc says it will take a few weeks before my body gets use to it and the attacks to stop.
is this wat is wrong or is it something else, and quittin takin prozac causes this and will it stop since i started bak? thanks.
im 19 yrs old, btw.
your doctor is correct. It will take a while for the meds to get back into your system. And yes, they are panic attacks . Everything you said, I have on a daily basis and I have been on welbutrin for 3 months now. I am going to have to have my doctor change my meds. Good luck with them, and know that you are not alone in having them.

follow your drs. advise and ask him to have tests done for your heart. if you know your heart is fine your anxiety might even stop.

Sure sounds like an anxiety attack to me! I should know - been having them for 5 years or so!
But, I will tell you, Prozac usually isn’t that good for anxiety and since you have been off of it, it might make it worse!!!
Some good ways to combat anxiety are to limit your caffeine intake (definitely no Red Bull or anything like it), get lots of sleep and watch your drinking! Anxiety is particularly bad when coupled with a hang over!
Personally, I don’t like Prozac for anxiety! It gives it to me worse! If I was to take any prescription for anxiety, it would be Effexor - that stuff works like a charm!
But regardless, the best way to get away from anxiety is to keep you serotonin and norepinephrine (excuse the spelling) levels up naturally! That means exercise and sleep and a good diet!
Try eating mostly organic foods and eating regularly! Real, whole foods…. In other words, if God didn’t make it - don’t eat it!!
But, you should have an EKG done just to be sure that it’s not heart problems….Demand one if the doctor hasn’t already prescribed you one. A little blood work to test for thyroid disease and blood sugar disorders would also be called for!
Good Luck!

You should go and see a heart specialist .
the reason being you mentioned shortness of breath funny heart beat , and chest pains.
A simple stint which is a one day operation can save your life,
My brother suffered anxiety attacks and died from a heart attack at 45 .
You need to look after yourself
Go to a heart specialist, insist on a referral .

anxiety is a symptom of anxiety disorders, depression and other medical conditins. i guess u were prescribed prozac for depression? anyway, it seems that depression and anxiety go together most of the time and that’s why antidepressants usually help for anxiety symptoms too. Discontinuing the medicine on your own may have also triggered the panic attack, we usually stop medication like this gradually to avoid adverse effects. How old are u? u seem to young to have a heart problem and the way u desribe the incidence sounds exactly like a person in a panic attack
people who have heart problem do not experience this the same way. all drugs take some time to take an effect, it varies from person to person, it may take a month.
i am wondering why u dont have psychoterapy. it would really help u in combination with your medicine.
